Ms Ramsey was my son’s first grade teacher…no matter how old my son got, she always asked about him. I had the opportunity to work with Shirley in Tenino…She was a first class lady and I’m going to miss her very much.

So saddened to see that Shirley died. As a parent, I appreciated her positive attitude regarding possibilities for my son’s education. And it was always fun to run into her at plays, etc, as a long-time friend. I’m sorry to know she’s gone.

Shirley was so wonderful to work with and cared about all of our special Ed children in Tenino. Since she left Tenino the current staff has never been able to do as good of a job. We truly miss your kind heart.

I just learned that Shirley is no longer with us and immediately thought what fun it was years ago to (literally) run into her at the Tower of London jousting matches. She was so dedicated to a great
profession and certainly a challenging part of it requiring a kind and
patient soul. That was Shirley. Rest in peace!

Kind, positive, seemingly unflappable are a few words I could use to describe Shirley. She was my mentor supervisor during my first year of teaching in Tenino. Shirley always had a way to solve a problem. I loved her ability to be a straight shooter, smiling all the while…Shirley Ramsey helped me become the educator I am today. Her goodness and savvy are in many places, in many people.

Shirley , I will miss you my friend. You were one of the few adults that shared my love for dolls. You were an inspiration to all the ladies at Curves, You challenged all of us, with your attendance you were always on the top of the work out board even when things got tough you kept going. You are at Peace now in Gods hands. You kept me going when I wanted to give up. Thank you for being my friend.

When I was a new Special Education Director Shirley took me under her “wings” and helped with my new role. I so appreciated her kindness and professional help. I loved her smile.

Shirley was indeed a gift to special children. I had the privilege of working with Shirley from 1994 to 2004. Whenever a childs’ educational forecast was in peril, she was adamant that all involved should remember that the childs’ interests came first. The past couple years I have had the pleasure of getting to know Shirley on a more personal basis and have enjoyed it very much. She was enjoying her retirement very much and loved to share stories of her adventures whenever I saw her. She will be missed.

Shirley will be so missed. She was such a good person. Our paths crossed as a parent and as a coworker in Tenino for the good of special children. Shirley treated us all with love and respect. May your memories sustain you through this difficult time.

Shirley was part of our lives for over forty years from the time we met in 1966 at Garfield Elementary School. Ours was the great pleasure of working and playing together throughout our professional and personal lives. She was a great special educator, and a personal and professional friend who once even “baby sat” our two boys while we were out of town! She was an enrichment to our lives. We will miss her.
