Obituary of Thyra M. Nielson

Thyra passed away November 7, 2013 in Olympia, Washington. She was born on August 4, 1927 in Grayling, Michigan. She later moved with her family to Longview, Washington, where she graduated from R.A. Long High School. Thyra created a good life for herself with her exceptional secretarial skills; she worked as an executive secretary for Bechtel Corp. in San Francisco, California most of her career. She also lived in Palo Alto, California, and spent the last 24 years in Olympia. Thyra traveled extensively to many places, including, Europe, Scandinavia, England, Hawaii, Asia, and Crete. In her spare time, she enjoyed reading, doing crossword puzzles, watching TV quiz shows, attending live theater and symphony concerts, and spending time with family and friends. She is survived by brother, Earl Nielson of Longview; and sisters, Elsie Donaldson of Longview, and Shirley Bond of Castle Rock, Washington. She was preceded in death by her parents, Hans Wilhelm and Dagmar Ida Nielson; brother, Edward Nielson; and sister, Arvely Ficker.
