Heather and I bonded over Downton Abbey. We discussed every episode and analyzed what might happen next. We looked forward to every episode with anticipation and delight, and became friends as we did so. As a result of our love of this program, we shared other TV programs and movies that we each thought the other would enjoy. It was so refreshing to have someone whose company I enjoyed so much, but we had so little contact. Once the adjunct office was closed, we had no place to gather and I no longer saw her. We never talked about our personal lives, and I had no idea she was sick. She gave me great joy and I will miss her.

As a DKG sister, Heather is sorely missed; as a colleague, she is gravely missed. Often we spent time together before our afternoon or evening classes in the faculty computer room at Stone Education Center. Always a smile on her face–even on her not so good days. We would exchange a few words of wisdom, would share stories, and would be sure to give each other a hug or two before putting our noses to the grindstone or going off to class. My prayers are with you all–Maria J

My deepest sympathy to the Nagle Family for your loss. Mine is never having met Heather, but I’ve glimpsed at her wonderful spirit through the stories of those who have, and I know that her departure is our collective loss, whether close friends and family, students and colleagues, or just acquaintances for whom Heather’s good nature was a bright spot in their days. I’ve learned it is possible to miss someone you’ve never met. Aloha, Heather.

Carol and I are deeply saddened on hearing that Heather has left us, and we extend our deepest sympathy and condolences to the Nagle family. I’m pleased to have known Heather as a colleague and teacher, while working together for the Pierce College Military Program. She enriched the lives of all of us, especially her students. Her kindness, compassion, vibrant and exuberant personality and willingness to help crown her legacy as a business Professor with the Military Program. Hundreds of Soldiers and family members have benefited from her teaching, thereby enriching their lives professionally and personally. She will be long remembered by all of us who knew her, as a caring instructor and someone who loved people. Carol and Horst Marschall

Heather was simply remarkable! She was one of those rare individuals who had the ability to leave a lasting and significant impact on you if you were fortunate enough to know her, and to be in her brilliant sphere. She left lasting footprints for the faculty to follow. She joyfully and enthusiastically shared her life and teaching experiences in such a personal and unselfish manner with all.
We suspect that at the end of that glorious Hawaiian sunset there stands Heather …smiling and shining as only SHE could, reflecting the wonderful character of a kindhearted, gracious and generous people…inspiring us all to carry on and to strive do our best, everyday, just as she did.

Chris and Steven, I see Heather so much in each one of you. Your mom was intelligent, so very kind, energetic, sympathetic, absolutely a blast of fun, problem-solver, loved to explore, creative, and so very caring. I know life seems unbearable right now Chris and Steven, but you are Heather’s sons and you will find your paths and make the world a better place, just like your mom did. She is your number one role model and always will be.

Was shocked and saddened to hear of Heather’s passing. I remember her from high school as the girl with the contagious smile who could always make me laugh. My thoughts and prayers go to her family, may she rest in peace.

I met Heather in the 7th grade. Since we lived just blocks away, we were at each other’s houses throughout our teen years. One of my clearest memories of that time is of no particular incident–just being in Heather’s room as she chatted on the phone, watched TV, made something on the sewing machine, played backgammon, and did homework–all at the same time. I remember Heather zooming across my parents’ pool, and trying to teach us slowpokes how to dolphin-kick and to flip in the water when we reached the end of the pool. (Didn’t help–she always won races, even when she gave us a huge headstart.) I will remember her for jaunts to Ala Moana, diving with Doc Pfeffer, trips to the stadium swap meet, and late-night visits to Zippy’s.
She was a staunch defender of the underdog, whether that underdog was someone being bullied at school, the no-longer loved manuscript of my “novel” (which she confiscated after I threatened to shred it), or vocational-ed students that others had written off.
I appreciated her energy, courage, boundless enthusiasm, and outspoken candor. She will be missed.

Heather came into my life like an ocean wave – bringing strength, happiness, and wisdom – staying briefly in magnificence and retreating too soon. I will always treasure lingering lunches and discussions about everything and nothing at all. And always laughter. Whether she was in my classroom between classes or visiting me at the beach or dancing in beauty, she brought high energy full of joy and laughter and love.
The waves echo behind me.

is what the sea has to teach.
Simplicity—Solitude—
Intermittency…
But there are other
beaches to explore.
There are more shells to find.
This is only the beginning.

Love and Light to you Heather; I’ll see you again one day, Jan

Mike and family,
I am so sorry for your loss. Heather will ALWAYS have a very special place in my heart. What a blessing to have been considered her friend. She never wanted any attention brought to herself….ever. She always wanted to know how I was. Never did a complaint come out of her mouth. Her favorite words were always” I’m going to beat this”. She never gave up or stopped thinking that she would and could. I feel so lucky to have shared this journey with her and all of you. You are all in my heart and prayers at this difficult time. I will miss her so much, as I know you will too. Take care and lean on each other.
Love,
Mickey Oncology
