Obituary of Heather Kaneshige Nagle

Heather Kaneshige Nagle departed this life on March 9, 2015 after a long struggle with a rare form of cancer. She would have been the first to deny that she was courageous, but the cheerful dignity with which she fought the disease was an inspiration to her family, friends and care providers alike. The loving kindness of the crew at Group Health Olympia Oncology is a debt that can never be fully repaid. A proud daughter of Hawa’ii, Heather loved hula dancing, Hawa’iian music, Dachshunds, and especially her two sons, Chris and Steven. In her youth, she was a Hawa’ii state champion swimmer and a candidate for the US Olympic swimming team. She earned her MBA and worked in manufacturing management for several years. She then went back to school for Teacher’s and Principal’s Certificates and taught business in junior high and high school for 15 years. She later became a professor at Pierce College Fort Lewis, where she taught until she no longer had the strength. She is survived by her sons; her husband of 25 years, Michael; her brother and parents; her latest rescue Dachshund; and a wide circle of friends and family. Her ashes will be scattered at her favorite diving spot in Hawa’ii. Please leave memories of Heather or condolences for her family in the Guestbook below.
