Well dad, you made it. I knew you were tired and worn out and wanting to go home. I miss you so! All those memories come flooding back. Especially the crazy ones, like when I was following you in the garden hiccupping all the way. You turned to me and screamed “LORI” and had a look on your face that told me to back up slowly and run. Run I did and told mom on you, telling her to lock the doors because dad’s gone crazy! Needless to say mom was none to pleased! Your comment to mom…”she doesn’t have hiccups any more does she.” I guess that’s one way to get rid of hiccups! Or your favorite…Out by the goat shed we were. You said to me “Lori look up”. Being the obedient child that I was, I looked up. What did a see? A rooster bum hanging over the shed roof and, yes, you guessed it, it let go of a lovely pile right onto my face. Frantic to get it of my face as it was running down into the corner of my mouth, I ran to the goat water and splashed water as fast as I could. Hysterical laughter coming from you told me to take a better look in the goat water and, yes, you guessed it, there were many goat droppings floating in that water. I have never in my life heard you laugh as hard and as long as you did that day…at my expense of course. Such sweet memories…
I love you daddy with all my heart and I thank you for all the life lessons you gave me during your life. I would not be the person I am today without you leading the way. I will see you again but until then I will keep you close to my heart and cherish each and every memory. I promise that I will take good care of your sweet girl, my momma. Love you for ever…Molly (Lori Lee)

Grandpa, I remember how you were always so open about your testimony of Jesus Christ, and you always made Christmas more meaningful in our family. I always looked forward to Christmas when you would bring a huge platter of your homemade goodies to share with everyone. I consider myself something of an aficionado of peanut butter cups, and yours were the best! I wish I learned your candy making secrets, but maybe I can try on my own and attempt to make you proud.
I’ve always thought you were so handsome and I loved to see that twinkle in your eyes that hinted about the mischievous things you were plotting. You always had a distinguished look with that salt and pepper hair and were quite the dashing gentleman.
I admire your dedication to your family and it did my heart good to see how much you loved all your girls. You raised them to be kind-hearted and loving people and I’ve benefited greatly from that. I hope I can pass on the family tradition and make a difference in this world by being kind and loving to everyone I meet.

As I reminisced with your living siblings we all had they same feeling, you were a great brother. For some of us you brought the gospel into our lives for which we are grateful and I am sure you are sharing that with those who have passed on. You will be missed. I told Bernice she has to eat the candies in those special love bags I have been sending as one for her and one for you. You have a special family, you have lived a special life. We will continue to love your family during your physical separation from us until we can all join together for Eternity. Baby Sister

Grandpa,
I miss you so much. I wish I would have spent so much more time with you, learning all your survival and homesteading skills and hearing your stories. I’ll always be grateful for your example of strong faith and service and living a good, honest life. There are so many people in this world who have such good things to say about you and whose lives have been touched by your good heart and strong testimony. I hope to make it to Maine one of these days so that I can finally really connect with your side of the family and know them and love them. I’ll miss your scratchy beard and strong hugs for the rest of my life. I love to think of you up there in Heaven with my aunts who I miss so much every day. It’s comforting to know you are all together and happy. I always have you in mind as I evaluate the men I meet! I love you so much, Grandpa. Watch over me.

So many amazing and wonderful memories growing up with “The Merrrills” in the valley.. I remember playing with the goats, a mini fair (with prizes!) sleepovers, fighting for space in the bathroom! Love you all so much and thinking of you all….

My sweet little poppla. I am so glad you are with Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ. I remember you telling me, with tears, about a dream you had that the Savoir held you in his arms to welcome you home, You said you felt indescribable joy! I’m so glad you have had that reunion now. How proud I am to have been your daughter. I always felt loved, protected and cared for by you and Momma. I was so blessed to have been born into the gospel, and for the example of faith you both were. You lived an honorable life. I’m sorry for the heartaches you had to endure. I wish I could have prevented them. I’m sure you were thrilled that morning as you laughed your way into heaven and heard the words ” Well done, thou good and faithful servant” Bye sweet Daddy, until we meet again. Please bring everyone with you when you come for me someday. With eternal love, Judy
