Chris was my roommate in Germany, Bravo Company, 32nd Signal Battalion. I regret we had lost touch over the years, he was one of my closest friends then. I didn’t know he was ill until after he had passed away, our mutual friend Steve found me.
I have informed our other roommates that I could find, they are likewise saddened. We were like brothers in our youth, I am proud to have known him. My prayers are with his family.

I was so sorry to read that Christian died. He was one of my “chemo-buddies” at Vista Oncology in OlyWA during the first half of 2013. I last saw him in June, I think it was, when my treatment ended. Throughout those months, just knowing that he might be there made going something to look forward to each week (really – friends make a big difference). One day, Christian and I watched the big Oklahoma tornado together – we were mesmerized as we saw it coming and going in real time and we talked about how awful it was for the people on the ground, including our fellow cancer patients whose treatment might be delayed. Through the months we talked about his hope to enroll in a culinary arts program (that was about when nothing much appealed to either of us food-wise … except watermelon … yet we loved to talk about food – go figure!). When he was feeling bad, I’d encourage him to project ahead to a cooking class. Finally – thank you for the picture of Christian that is in the paper, with hair. He was one of the (many!) men at Vista who complained about baldness … until finally I told them all to quit their belly-achin’. I told them that at least they could walk into Home Depot – with or without a baseball cap – and no would turn away thinking “Ut-oh, cancer.” After all, bald is in for men. They needed to think about us ladies, for whom bald is not yet entirely beautiful! They grumbled – yeah, yeah – but I think they got the point! Still, appearance mattered to Christian, as it does to us all. He’d be happy with that picture in the paper. Cancer is hard to face. Christian was one of the good people who made it easier for me. I wish he had made it …. I shall remember him.

I loved my brother so much. He was my “holding hands” buddy when we were little, only 15 months apart, we had so much fun! My big brother who taught me how to fish, play basketball, throw a baseball, catch snakes (yuk) and protector from unruly boyfriends. He became an inspiration in the kitchen, he was a wonderful chef. It was fun to watch him grow. We were concert buddies in the 70’s and our last brother/sister concert outing was the Van Halen concert in Seattle in 2007. Our lives changed forever after that date. He was too giving, couldn’t say ‘no, enough is enough’. He is always in my heart. It was an honor and privilege to care for him in his final days. Thank you to all who remember him kindly….;-) With love, Robin

Love to all my double cousins. You have always been in my thoughts, prayers and memories from so long ago. Live has taken us in many directions. I remember Chris as a boy. He always reminded me of my brother Dom in his looks. They could have been twins. My love to my Aunt Nancy and all my cousins. Reyne
