Isabel Harvey

Obituary of Isabel Louise Harvey

Isabel Harvey died February 28, 2014. She lingered much longer than expected. She had her own schedule and passed ten years to the day after her mother’s death. For those of us who knew her, it was not surprising that she followed her own path. Isabel was a wonderful wife and friend to her husband. Her joy with motherhood and devotion to her daughter, Madeline, are legendary. She loved her parents dearly and adored her uncle. She was a good sister and friend to her six siblings. Her nieces, nephews, and their children had a loving auntie. She lived a life defined by her principles and philosophy. She believed in treading gently upon the Earth and rejoicing in its bounty. We have received many texts and emails over the past days. Their themes and stated attributes are the same no matter the setting in which people knew her: “kind,” “loving,” “generous,” “strong.” She was consistent and her actions congruent with her core beliefs. We will miss her every day for the rest of our lives. Isabel is survived by by her husband, Jerry Furey; daughter, Madeline Thadea Harvey Furey; brothers, Joseph Harvey and John Harvey; and sisters, Carol Alonso, Catherine Rutledge, Dorothy Harvey Fitzsimmons, and Alison Harvey Garcia. Memorial donations may be made to Providence St. Peter Foundation Hospice Fund, 413 Lilly Rd NE, Olympia, WA 98506.
