Obituary of Faustino V. Gonzalo

In the early morning hours of December 4, 2023, Faustino "Val" Gonzalo left this earth for his eternal home. After nearly two years of declining health and no clear diagnosis, it was determined that he was suffering from Multiple Systems Atrophy.

Val was born on April 2, 1944, in New Orleans, Louisiana, to Faustino and Gloria Gonzalo and spent his younger years in Stockton, California. He lived in Los Angeles, California, for many years and moved to Olympia, Washington, in 1996 and served as a pastor at Church of Living Water.

A talented singer and percussionist, Val performed and recorded with many artists, including Andrae Crouch, Agape Force, Maranatha Music, and Tommy Walker. He also toured with Promise Keepers and the Luis Palau Praise Band. In addition to his passion for music and worship, he loved fishing and art.

He is survived by his wife, Laurel Gonzalo; two children from his first marriage; his sister; numerous nieces, grand nieces, nephews, grand nephews, cousins; and a legacy of individuals that his ministry impacted.

A Celebration of Life for Val will be held January 20, 2024, at 1:30 p.m. at Church of Living Water, 1615 Chambers St. SE, Olympia WA 98501.

Please leave condolences or share memories and photos on the Tribute Wall to the left.
