Laurel, I’ve wanted to send a message sometime ago, but could not find the words. Life to me primarily concerns the people in our lives and their impact. Val, blessed so many including myself and my wife. Of course as many stated Val’s humor & love for others and Jesus tops the list. When I suffered a stroke in 2016, his visit to my hospital room totally put a smile on my face & warmth in my heart. When I (Bob) lead jail visitation ministry at Living Water, he was the ministry pastor and our one-on-ones counseling sessions in his office or lunch at “Izzy’s” always gave me encouragement & directions. We so love Val Gonzalo & prayers and love to you Laurel & family. Our deepest condolences.

Hi Laurel - i was so very sad to hear about Val...I have SO many crazy and fun memories of us working together! Val had so many aspects to his personality and, as I got to know him better, realized that beyond his crazy sense of humor, he had a very deep love for Jesus and walk with the Lord. Some of my favorite memories were from Girls' Night Out events when he would do a special performance to delight our guests- he was always a favorite with them, Sue and myself!!! I can't wait to see him in heaven! My mom went there in 2020, and I'm sure she was part of the welcoming committee because she was also a fan of Val. We will all miss this beloved friend, Laurel.

I will miss Val and his sense of humor. I remember him telling a story or two about “Aunt Fadelma”, I assumed she was a made up character. (If not, my apologies to Aunt Fadelma)

My Dear Beloved Brother. I keep asking myself how can I go on without you? You have been my Hero since I made you drink water and eat from my tin dishes. Sorry I cracked your cat eye marbles with my steely marble Dad bought for me. It has truly been a wonderful whirlwind being your sister. Thanks for showing me what a true Minister is and always reminding me that everything is possible with the Lord. You have lived a long wonderful life for the Lord and have brought many to serve him. You have truly run the race and I know you are reaping your reward in heaven. There isn’t enough of space to sum your life up. You were a great son, Grandson, Uncle, unbelievable brother and most of all a wonderful Christian friend to our schoolmates and the kids we grew up in church with. Thank you for being the awesome Uncle to my children, they’ve always Loved and appreciated you. We’ll meet again honey, Aloha Oe my love until we meet again. You will always be in my heart.
