Dear Ones, Blessings of peace to you knowing that Marilyn lived a fabulous, love & curiosity filled life. I met Marilyn nearly ten years ago when I began my tenure as minister at Unity of Olympia. As an early member of the Spiritual Explorers book group, she shared a lifetime of wisdom while simultaneously being open to new information. Her eyes were bright and her smile genuine. When we were showcasing Olympia artists Marilyn shared many of her quilts with our community, letting them hang in the sanctuary for a full month. Then she gifted one to be raffled off at a summer picnic. Marilyn was a generous and committed member of our spiritual community. When the time came for her to rely on others for transportation, she contacted me and said she'd be attending another church. We agreed that the Spirit of God is everywhere present!
Please let us know if there's anything we can do for your family.
Reverend Terry Murray, Minister
Unity of Olympia

Mrs. Callender was my 5th grade teacher at Lacey Elementary 50 years ago! We were in the new. oh-so-hip round school with our classroom like a wide spoke in a wheel. Except for a partial wall, it was mostly open to the library in the center. I remember she used to get a little mad now and then because it was impossible to control the noise level as the walkways between classes wound around the classrooms between the library and the teaching space. I remember her clearly, I can see that classroom, and I recall her focus on reading comprehension. I remember well organized birthday and holiday parties, going out to watch the eclipse, and a steady flow of volunteer parents in our classroom. Mrs. Callender instilled a love of learning in me, and her enthusiasm stuck with me. Later as an adult I would often see Mr. and Mrs. Callender at garage and estate sales and remember them speaking fondly of their cruise ship classes and travels. Rest in peace, dear teacher, and love to the family who must be so proud of her good work and a life well lived. Sincerely, Lorene Lee

Lorene,
Thank you so very much for your kind words about my Mother! She told me many times, all she wanted to do was be a teacher...even at age 8 she knew! She lived a full, long, fun and joy filled life. She would have been 91 a week ago, but is now resting and at peace. (and yes, both my parents LOVED a good garage sale!)
With thanks for your memories!
Renee
