Obituary of Howard Hunter Hughes

Howard Hunter Hughes passed away September 3, 2021, in Rochester, Washington.  He was born June 18, 1931, to Lucille and Will Jay Hughes in Seattle, Washington.  Over the years, he also lived in Baltimore, Maryland; Anchorage, Alaska; and Lacey, Washington.

 

Howard graduated from Seattle’s Ballard High School in 1949, and attended Seattle University.  He served in the U.S. Army (1953-1955), and married Arlene Sundquist on June 19, 1954.  He was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Lacey.

 

Howard spent 40 years working in the electrical contracting business.  He enjoyed camping, hunting, fishing and boating.

 

He is survived by his wife, Arlene of Rochester; sons, Steven of Bainbridge Island, Washington, Robert (Heidi) of Tenino, Washington, and Jeffrey of Rochester; daughters, Beverly (Kevin) of Stanwood, Washington, and Sharon (Tony) of Wittman, Arizona; five grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and sister, Lorraine of Seattle.  He was predeceased by his parents; and brother, Chuck.

 

Memorial donations may be made to Sacred Heart Catholic Church or hospice.
