I was sorry to hear of Gary’s passing. I remember his smile, his laugh and willingness to lend a hand.

Theresa, Alvin, Dea, extended family and friends - I am very saddened learning of Gary's passing. You have my deepest condolences. We were close and shared many great times both on the job and off. Gary was a precious individual… caring, compassionate, smart, brave, selfless, and loving. I will miss him greatly, and I will always remember him as the wonderful man he was. Love you like a brother, Gary! I miss you!
Great day a couple of years ago with Gary. We went out to lunch and then he drove my 2001 Corvette around town. Smiles galore!

There it is, that smile. There is that smile that Gary always gave me when he would visit with me at work. And then would come that laughter that always brightened my day or night; depending on what shifts we were working. He always gave me a different perspective to look at "things". His presence helped me get through our shifts. Even after I left, he'd stop by seeing me outside always working in the garden or out on the lawn. Gary never lost that smile, laughter and positive attitude about life. As I'm sure he's still doing for many angels right now. Be at peace my dear friend and colleague, til we meet again. :(

As a young 18 year old kid in the army and 3000 miles from home I suddenly found myself living off base. Gary was my roommate for a while and between Alvin and him I knew that after the army I wanted to be a deputy sheriff like them. That was 37 years ago. Wow how time flies. After the army I went back to Florida and joined the sheriffs office and retired in 2009. I was fortunate enough in 2018 to have been in Seattle for work and I drove down to see Gary and Alvin. We had dinner and I can’t begin to express how much I enjoyed seeing them and spending time with them. They were both a huge influence in my life.
I’m sadden by the news but I take comfort in knowing that he is no longer in pain or suffering. On behalf of my family we want to express our deepest sympathies and we’re praying that God will help them find peace. Go rest high on the mountain Gary for your work here on earth is done.
Love ya buddy,
Rusty Russell
