As a member of the Yelm Lions Club, Tom was always willing to step forward when needed. He obviously made a difference in a lot of people's lives, and that's a wonderful legacy.

You were one of the ones that said I might have a shot if I were to practice on some of the drills that I would have to go through at recruit training. I did with your help and my son's help, and I passed. The bigger guys still figured I would still back out because I was only 5'1" and 115 lbs. and 42 years old. Then came EMS training and once again you were there to help me out with that, all the flash cards, training on the dummies, pretend 1st aid, and everything else that came along! Then you asked me to help you out with your mom, how could I not say yes to you! I am so HAPPY that you found your soul with Mildred.

Finding words is so difficult. We go way back, to the days he and Bob were in the Fire Department. He was such a generous and mild-mannered man who loved his wife deeply. Hugs and love Mildred - he will be in your heart (and ours) forever.

I met Tom Through Mildred back in 2007. He was the sweetest person to me. Always brought me coffee when he brought Mildred's to her, sometimes he would buy my lunch as well.. Tom accepted me as one of the family, enjoyed talking about outdoors and survival with my sons. Appreciated the Lego creations my boys left for him to find. He and I talked a lot over the years, about life, he helped my study for my medical exams. Just not enough good things to say about this man. The community, the world has lost a great man, and Heaven got a good one back.

Tom came into our lives by being a nurse for my son Matt. We would have many conversations about a lot of topics. Then I found out he was a Lions member so we had that in common as well. My son really had a great relationship with him as well.

Your smile could light up a room, the gentle way you had about you that made everyone feel comfortable. You took such joy in serving others and I was proud to call myself your friend. I won’t say goodbye - I know exactly where you are, so I will just say that I’ll see you around the bend, in another time and another place. Love you forever Tom Henson.
