I'm thinking about you today Herb, knowing you are in heaven, where long ago you set as your end goal to be, living your life faithfully everyday in the manner necessary to get there, caring so much about each person in your family and not ever missing a day saying many faithful prayers for all of us! Your prayers were always consistent and with meaning as it was your daily desire for "God's will be done" first and foremost. The Mariners will miss their number one fan this spring! I wonder who will be sitting next in "your comfy chair"? Herb, you have left behind some pretty big shoes to fill! ~Blessings to all family and well wishes.

I could always count on Herb to greet me warmly whenever he saw me. I was privileged to have known him and Doris at Praise Community Church and him and Sue at Praise Covenant Church. He was always a warm and gracious man, who cared deeply about people. His greatest wish was to find ways to share the gospel at the Seaman's Center with sailors he gave rides to. His deep love for the Lord will always be remembered. Now he's rejoicing with the Savior he so longed to see.

Although I only knew Herb for a short time through his partnership with Samaritan's Purse, I really enjoyed our phone conversations. I know being in the presence of his Savior was his greatest desire and we rejoice that longing is fulfilled.

Thank you Herb for your faithful service to our Lord while in this life. While in our Sunday school class we talked about heaven, and now you are experiencing that grand place. We miss you here, but you are much better where you are now. Thanks for your example.

I feel privileged to have known Herb all these many years. He was such a kind and loving man and his love for Jesus just beamed from him. I have goose bumps just thinking about him now in heaven with Jesus, his wonderful smile alight forever. You are loved, gracious man.

So thankful that Dad is now in the presence of his Lord & saviour, where he longed to be in these last days. In his last conversation with me just a day before his passing, he described his joy at his pending home-coming. His steady love for God, expressed in his service and love to others, is an example to us all.
Our family has so many special memories - his love of travel, fun with grandchildren and great grandchildren, hikes on the Carbon Glacier Trail, walks along the Oregon Coast, dinners at the Lobster Shop, the hunt for the perfect coconut cream pie, 4 generation family trips to Cape Cod, Canon Beach and Brown’s Point, many games of cribbage, and even his Donald Duck voice.
A full, well lived life! We will miss you.
With love from his daughter-in-law.

My father-in-law, with his friendly, happy smile we all loved. He seems on the verge of saying one of his funny one-liners.

Dad was a loving, gracious, faithful man who thought of others before himself. He was a man who loved the Lord, memorizing scripture and gave freely of his time to those in need. His faith is a testimony to us all. His wish was that all those who come after will find him faithful. We will miss him. Praise be to God for giving us this example of what being a Christ follower should look like.
