Obituary of Herbert H. Bauer

Herbert H. Bauer, 89, passed away December 5, 2018 in Tacoma, Washington.  He was born March 3, 1929 to Harold and Cleo Bauer in Mille Lacs County, Minnesota.  He married Doris M. Sharp on February 14, 1953 in Spokane, Washington; she passed away September 9, 2003.  Herbert married Susan A. McCarty on October 28, 2006 in Tacoma, Washington.

He served in the U.S. Air Force from May 12, 1948 to June 8, 1958, and in the USAF Reserves from 1958 to 1978.  He retired as a CMSgt. He was a volunteer and board member at the Tacoma Seafarers Center from October 1980 to May 2018, and was a member of the First Covenant Church in Tacoma.

Herbert is survived by his wife, Susan Bauer; sons, Dennis Bauer, Ronald (Catharine) Bauer, and Paul Bauer; grandchildren, Heather Washburn, Erin (Josh) Anderson, David (Lindsay) Bauer, Corinna (Andrew Ellison) Bauer, and D.J. (Robyn) Bauer; and great grandchildren, Damian Anderson, Michael Bauer, Kennedy Bauer, Timothy Bauer, Peyton Bauer, Samuel Bauer, and Jameson Bauer.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday, December 12, 2018, 11:30 a.m. at Tahoma National Cemetery.  A memorial service will be held Saturday, January 12, 2019, 1:00 p.m. at Praise Covenant Church, 3501 S. Orchard St., Tacoma, WA 98466.
