Obituary of Joseph Scott Sorenson

Joey Sorenson was known for his big heart, infectious smile, and hugs.  Wherever he went, he always made a friend for life.  He had the ability to change someone’s life with his soul.  Joey lived life, and it was one hell of a journey.  Sadly, Joey passed away Friday, June 29, 2018 in Olympia, Washington.

 

Born in Duluth, Minnesota, to Arthur and Connie Sorenson, Joey grew up in Duluth and was a graduate of Denfeld High School in 1987.  That same year, he joined the U.S. Army on July 16.  He was selected for service with the 160th SOAG/SOAR and went on numerous Campaigns that included Panama, Bahrain, Haiti, Iraq and Afghanistan.  Joey retired April 1, 2008 at Ft. Lewis, Washington, where he continued to support his 160th Brothers in Arms as a contractor.

 

Joey is survived by the love of his life and soulmate, Jennifer “Jeny” Sorenson.  They were married on June 10, 2004. He is also survived by his sons, Tyler Sorenson and Justin Wood; daughter-in-law, Melisa; mother, Connie Sorenson; brother, Arthur Sorenson, Jr.; sisters, Sandy Nip and Ann Sorenson; grandchildren, nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his father, Arthur Sorenson.

 

All are welcome to come to the celebration of Joey’s life, Saturday, July 14, 2018, 4:00 p.m. at St. Martin’s Pavilion, 5300 Pacific Ave. SE, Lacey WA 98503.  Following the service, the SDMC would like to invite family and friends to a gathering in Joey’s honor at 7631 Rainier Road SE in Olympia.
