Pat & Barb gave us so much in life. Mel was blessed to coach with Pat for 4or 5 yrs. I got to tag along. I wouldn’t have changed one moment for the world. Mel learned so much from Pat and they had so many hilarious experiences together. What a wonderful human being. We love you Pat and you will be missed so much. Boy did Pat love his family. Have one on us.

We just want to thank Pat for taking the time to make our daughter who she is today. He was always there from when she was just learning how to play fastpitch , coaching her in high school then helping her become an awesome coach at BHHS. He was always available to “talk shop” with her and give her ideas and suggestions to guide her along her way. He always made our family be his family. He will truly be missed by the may lives he touch in the fastpitch world. Thank you for sharing such a great guy with our family. Hopahula!!!

I met this amazing man when I was just 8 years old..boy I definitely didn’t know what I was in for! My first day meeting him was at softball camp. I remember thinking he was so friendly..until he made us run! I thought I was going to die, but he helped make me into the softball player I was. Pat was amazing, as I grew up, he was always there, whether it was to offer advice at a tournament, or just give me one of his huge smiles, a hug and a “How ya doing dear?”. He was funny, quick witted, and I will always remember how positive he was. I was saddened to hear about his passing from my dad just last night. Pat was definitely an honorary member of our family and will be missed. Rest well, Pat. Love you!

Our thoughts and prayers are with the Hunt family. Pat was a role model and mentor to many. I remember calling him after he won a state championship. I asked him to work with my daughter and a few other girls. His reply was when do we start. My daughter now plays for Black Hills. Pat came out to one of the BHHS games last year recognized my daughter after all these years and told her what a great job she was doing. Great man!

My daughter just called to tell me about Pat. Oh Momma! He crossed my mind yesterday and I had decided to go visit him in June. I am sorry I didn’t go sooner. We shared many good times and humorous moments coaching together at CC. We spent countless hours swapping coaching strategies and perfect fundamentals as we instructed clinics together up and down I-5 and attended NSC clinics in Portland and Seattle. I will always treasure those times we spent together and will miss him. Pat had a great sense of humor, was a good man, a good coach, a good friend and I respect him and his family very much. So sorry to hear this Barb and family. No more suffering Pat. Rest in peace old friend. Hopahula!

Pat was my middle school teacher and then softball coach in the late 70’s and early 80’s. I’ve always known how lucky I was to have his influence on my life at a young age. It is so difficult to say goodbye to a true gem. He was a teacher, coach, and cheerleader. He lifted us all up – kids and parents alike! My parents and I have always spoke about the softball games and tournaments and how much fun it was to be with Pat and his family. His smile was worth a million to me. I can say that he inspired me to love softball and as an adult, I coached my daughter’s team for several years. And now, my oldest daughter is a teacher and also coaches varsity softball in Yakima. I believe this softball legacy had its humble start right here in Tumwater. Thank you, Pat, for being you.

Dear Hunt Family I am very sorry and saddened to hear about Pat’s death. I started working at Tumwater Middle School in 1980 and was immediately drawn to Pat’s good nature, great sense of humor, and the intelligent and sensible way he went about his business. But most of all, I was always impressed with the kind, gentle, and respectful way he treated students and how positively they responded to him. Students recognized the sincerity of his humanity and could tell there was genuine care and concern behind it and they also were drawn to him. It was early in my teaching career when I first met Pat and watching how he did it had a big influence on me and my teaching. I tried to model, as much as I could, those qualities that made him a sensational teacher and person. Even though we didn’t stay in touch after he retired from teaching, he has continued to stay current in my memory. Pat will always be fresh in my mind. I know he brought joy and laughter to a lot of people and he will dearly missed. With my deepest sympathy, Charles Reed

That is the smile we will always remember. Never an angry word – unless it was directed to an umpire . Pat was not only the Coke Classic Fast pitch coach, he was an inspiration and example that the girls will always remember. Our daughter as well as the other girls respected his leadership and cherished his friendship. Pat, you will always be in the hearts of your team!
