Obituary of Patrick W Hunt

Patrick W. Hunt Patrick W. Hunt, 74, passed away Sunday, May 19, 2013 at Providence St. Peter Hospital with family by his side, after a long battle with cancer. Patrick was born February 20, 1939 to William and Beatrice Hunt in Spokane, Washington. In August of 1961, Pat married Barbara Muhs, his high school sweetheart. After graduating from Gonzaga High School, he went on to Eastern Washington University and earned his Bachelor of Arts Degree in Education. Pat began his teaching career in Connell, Washington and later moved to Olympia, Washington where he resided for 46 years. He spent the majority of his career working at Tumwater Middle School, where he taught Foreign Language, Social Studies and Leadership. He also spent many years coaching wrestling and working as the activities coordinator. Patrick served his community at Scott Lake for 40 years by working for the maintenance company. He took great pride in making Scott Lake a beautiful place to live, and he loved interacting with neighbors and community members. One of Patrick’s greatest passions was coaching girls’ fast pitch. He was involved in all levels and touched many people’s lives for 30 years. He began coaching his daughters’ teams and later coached at Tumwater High School, Black Hills High School, and Centralia College. He helped several teams win championships, but his biggest accomplishment was making a positive impact with each and every player. Patrick is survived by his wife, Barbara; and his three children, Jeff (Sally) Hunt, Julie (Jesse) Barragan, and Jennie (Jeff) Bush. He also had six grandchildren, William and Jane Hunt, Miranda and Natalie Barragan, and Jacob and Josie Bush. Patrick is most well-known for his quick wit and sense of humor. His remarkable optimism and patience throughout his life will remain unsurpassed. We know you left us the rainbow and are now enjoying your pot o’ gold with the other Irishmen in heaven.
