Obituary of James Wilcox

James “Jimmy” Wilcox, Sr., 72, of Napavine, Washington, passed away on Saturday, March 31, 2018. He was born in Aberdeen, Washington, to the late Virgil and Jennie (Schiller) Wilcox and was the oldest of three children. At a young age, Jimmy excelled at sports. He graduated from Ocosta High School, where he held several records in the shot put and discus. He attended Grays Harbor College and was drafted into the U.S. Army, serving in Korea. Jimmy was released early to attend Western Washington University. Jimmy’s love for children finally brought him to Napavine, where he taught and coached for many years at Napavine High School. His greatest joy in life was meeting and influencing kids. Jimmy is survived by his children, Jim, Jr. of Portland, Oregon, and Dan (Gale) of Las Vegas, Nevada; two sisters, Rita and Laura (Larry), both of Westport, Washington; and many beloved grandchildren, nephews, cousins, friends, former relatives and racquetball opponents. We will all miss him terribly! Please leave memories of Jimmy or condolences for his family in the Guestbook below.
