I am so sorry that I didn't get to know about Edythe's passing away until now. She has been a marvelous, life-inspiring friend, whom I could turn to when I was going through hard times as a young student at the UW. It is with my deepest condolences that I want to join her family and friends in remembering Edythe.

What a lovely article for a wonderful lady. I learned so much about her interesting life! Edye was always the hostess with the mostess when we were growing up in Fairbanks. We all loved her and Bill and Ronnie and Fritzie at their home on 3rd & Cowles! We lived up on 9th & Cowles, very close. I think Fritz and I are about the same age. Funny I was just telling a friend about how Edye made lovely meringue "Easter baskets" and the grass was colored coconut! Yum! Great memories there and also up on Deadwood or Switch Creek where they mined near ours.
My husband and i live in New Mexico now and love it. I am going to Fairbanks in June for my 40th Class Reunion! Will see my mom and sisters then. My love and condolences to both of the 'boys' and their families, Lauris

To Ron, Fritz and families;
What a great tribute to your dear mother, Edy, which I copied and read to my mother, Ruth, at the Pioneers' Home. It brought back many good memories of your Mom and Dad, and the hospitality they shared with so many of us at your home on Cowles St.
Mom and I reminisced about the mining days on Deadwood and Switch Creeks, with the "Wrede boys" and families, and so many others who are now gone. Our generation needs to keep these stories alive with our children and grandchildren.
Like you, my sisters and I are thankful to have had the experiences we had, growing up in mining camps.
We send our deepest condolences to all of you in the loss of your mother and grandmother. Thanks for the memories.
Love, Sylvia, Dick and Ruth

What a beautiful tribute! I read the paper online to keep up with all my Oly friends and my "kids". When I saw the name Wrede I knew it had to be Will's grandmother. I extend my sincere sympathies to you whole family on the loss of such a once vital woman.
