Obituary of Brian Howard Workman

Brian Howard Workman Brian Howard Workman, born October 28, 1950, passed away at home in Shelton, Washington on May 21, 2012 after an extended battle with cancer. A lifelong resident of Washington State, Brian was born to Ira and Olera (Ward) Workman in Morton, Lewis County, Washington, and grew up in Rife, Washington. He graduated from Shelton High School and later married Kathleen Gill on April 15, 1972 in Shelton. Brian worked at Simpson and Weyerhaeuser, filling various positions in the sawmill profession over the years. He retrained as a residential specialty plumber in 1990-1994. Brian was very generous. If you liked something, he would give it to you. He once gave a stranger his only work coat because the person was walking over White Pass in a snow storm. He also was a humble person who never wanted to trouble anyone even though he would trouble himself to make sure others were cared for. He found some friends stranded along the road with a flat tire and he changed all the plans his family had for the weekend to help them and make sure they got where they were going. Brian was a Christian who loved sharing Bible truths with others as a Jehovah’s Witness. He enjoyed the outdoors immensely, including the beach, the ocean, the woods, hunting and fishing. Brian had a particular fondness for tinkering and inventing and searching for “treasures” with his brother and best friend, Sidney Workman (who passed away six months ago). He also enjoyed traveling to Hawaii. Brian was a very loving person who never passed up an opportunity to tell his family that he loved them. He kept his promise to tell his wife he loved her every day, to hold her every day, and really talk with her every day. He felt a deep love for his entire family and is survived by his wife, Kathleen (Gill) Workman of Shelton; their three children, Joseph Workman of Olympia, Jeremy Workman of Port Orchard, and Briana (Workman) Petersson of Hallstahmer, Sweden (and their spouses); sister, Beverly Workman; three grandchildren; and a number of nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; and brothers, Charles Workman and Sidney Workman. Please leave memories of Brian or condolences for the family in the Guestbook below.
