Obituary of Arthur Wirth

Arthur Wirth Arthur Wirth, 86, of Olympia, died November 30, 2010. He was born May 23, 1924 in Maui, Hawaii to Lawrence G. and Dorothy M. (Carter) Wirth. Arthur graduated high school and attended 2 years of college. On May 13, 2000, in Olympia, he married Betty J. Lawson who survives. They lived in Olympia and spent winters in Florida. He served 22 years in the United States Navy retiring as Chief Petty Officer and was a Hornet/Princeton survivor. Arthur was also a Navy Recruiter. After his naval service he worked as a salesman and broker with New York Life Insurance for 30 years. Arthur was a member of the VFW, Power Squadron, and Trout Unlimited. Including his wife, he is also survived by 3 sons, Michael Wirth (Deborah) of California, Robert Wirth (Jill) and Robert Lawson; daughter, Kathy Balcom (Bill) all of Washington; 2 brothers, Robert Wirth (Opal) and Larry Wirth (Freda); sister, Beatrice Hodges (Ted) all of Florida; also 8 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and daughter Diane Wirth. A graveside service with military honors will be held Saturday, December 11 , 2010 at 10:00 a.m. at Old Tacoma Cemetery, 4801 S. Tacoma Way, Tacoma. A memorial service will follow at 11:30 a.m. at Chapel of Memories, Funeral Alternatives of Washington, 2830 Willamette Dr. NE, Lacey. A reception will follow.
