Obituary of Lloyd Winter

None Lloyd Ronald Winter Lloyd Ronald Winter died at home, in Olympia Washington, surrounded by his family on Friday, the 30th of March 2012, having lived twice as long as he expected but, not as long as he deserved. Born in Kent Washington on the 4th of September 1933, to immigrant parents Anna Greta (Lindahl) Winter & Lloyd George Winter. Lloyd started his varied work life at North West Glass. He joined the Air Force at just 19 years of age and excelled in a 27 year career that took him and his family over & around the entire globe, helped him earn his Master’s, and broaden his perspective in ways he couldn’t have imagined. Married Shirley Marie Anderson, whom he had known his entire life, in 1957 and had two children, Sally Ann and Eugene Ronald. After retiring from the Air Force he went to work for the United States Postal Service and retired for real in 1996 to their beautiful Long Lake in Olympia Washington. Lloyd was a lifelong member of The Elks, loved his monthly breakfasts with a group of geezers he went to grade school with, and the fellowship of the members of the Walleye Club in Auburn. He enjoyed following & studying the stock market (he subscribed to seven money periodicals), was passionate about fishing regardless of the conditions, stalking the wily mushroom, producing an amazing bounty in his garden consisting of eleven raised beds, camping in the rain in a VW Van & Blue Tarps to the luxury of a 33 foot motor home, enjoying their cabin on Mount Rainier, traveling the world with their dear friends Bob & Melba Nagler, watching cooking shows on TV and telling the rest of us how to do it, and writing acerbic letters to the Republican party. He was our go to guy when things needed fixing, including ourselves. He leaves behind his wife Shirley, daughter Sally Winter, Son Gene and his wife Gale Winter, Grandchildren Adam, Katelin, and Neal Winter, Sister Roberta & Brother Jim, and many more dear relatives and friends. We are especially grateful to Dr. Reed & Dr. Roth at Madigan Army Hospital and the Staff of Providence Hospice who have helped us through these last two years. Please sign the guestbook below.
