Obituary of Clifford J. Wharton

Clifford James Wharton Clifford James Wharton, 68, of Rainier, passed away due to lung and brain cancer on December 27, 2008. He was born October 25, 1940 in Rainier to Clifford Dean and Viola Louisa (McClenand) Wharton. He was a jockey and thoroughbred owner and trainer. His interests revolved around the love of horses. He was a farrier, bronc and bare back rider and all around cowboy. He was a member of the Horse Racing Association. Clifford is survived by his sons, Dean of Portland OR, Daren of La Center WA, Lenny, Travis, Randy, and Tim, all of Lansing MI; daughter, Kim Wharton of Lansing MI; sisters, Luceile Koher of Redding CA, Judy Pittman, and Loretta McCarty both of Rainier WA; 8 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren; his best friend, Neil Burnham of Rainier WA. He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Jerry and sister, Margie Pettit.
