Obituary of Jodie Lee Wessels

Jodie Lee Lanouette Wessels Jodie was born in Prosser, Washington on September 20, 1951 to Lowell Keith (Keno) and Jay Dean (Patricia) Lanouette. On November 2, 2011, Jodie passed from this life at Providence Centralia Hospital to be with her parents, who preceded her in death. Jodie had a good head for business and was successful in any career she chose to do. In the early 1980's she worked as a manager for the Marriott Corporation at Dulles International Airport in the Washington DC area. She later returned to help her parents run their business, Keno's Restaurant and Lounge in Prosser, Washington. It was during this time period that Jodie met her husband Tom Wessels, whom she married on December 19,1992. Jodie went to Barber school and obtained her Barber's license in October 1997, working briefly in the Tri-Cities until relocating to Centralia. Once relocated, Jodie opened up her own Barber Shop in Chehalis, Washington, and later a bigger shop in Centralia, Washington entitled Jo'z Barber Shop. She was beloved by her clients for her barbering skills, vivacious personality and sharp wit. Jo'z Barber Shop remained a successful business until she closed it earlier this year when her health began to fail. Throughout her life, Jodie loved antiques and enjoyed finding interesting pieces to decorate her vintage homes. A walk through her home was a delightful experience and an education in days gone by. Like her mother, Jodie was a good cook, and guests in her home were always treated with warmth and hospitality. Jodie had an appreciation for all genres of music. In recent years, she thoroughly enjoyed fado singer Mariza, and was thrilled when her husband and her attended a live concert to hear her perform. Jodie is survived by her husband Tom Wessels of Centralia, her stepson Riley Wessels of Olympia, WA, her brother Lowell Keith Lanouette Jr of Kennewick, Washington, sister Dixie Amundson of Prosser, Washington, and several beloved nieces and nephews. Jodie had a great sense of humor and was a force to be reckoned with. No matter how busy she was in her life, she always had time to care for others who were in need. She was a true friend to those who knew or needed her. Jodie had a passion for living life to the fullest, and she will be greatly missed by all who loved her.
