Obituary of Wilma J. Welds

Wilma Jean Welds Wilma Jean Welds, 73, a 56 year resident of Olympia, died of cancer September 6, 2009 at her home surrounded by her family. She was born July 26, 1936 to William T. and Hazel (Housden) Baker. She graduated from Rochester High School and went on, later in life, to obtain her Associates of Arts degree. In 1954 Wilma married Dorvin Wood. He preceded her in death in January 1972. She married Theodore Donnell Welds in 1975. Theodore preceded her in death in July 2009. She was also preceded in death by her brother, Jesse Baker and sister, Joy Gardner. Wilma was a homemaker who had a multitude of interests including knitting, quilting, painting, glasswork, and playing music. She attended Westwood Baptist Church. Wilma was always ready for an adventure no matter where it led her. She spent the last several years traveling with Ted throughout the United States. Wilma is survived by 2sons, Rick Wood and Allen Wood, both of Shelton, WA; 1 daughter, Debra Knauf, of Olympia, WA; 1 brother, bob Baker, of Rochester, WA; also 8 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren. A graveside service will be held at 10:30 a.m., Saturday, September 12, 2009 at Sticklin Cemetery in Centralia. She will be interred next to Dorvin. A celebration of her life will be held at 1:00 p.m. following the graveside at Westwood Baptist Church.
