John Warren

Obituary of John Martin Warren

John Martin Warren III John Martin Warren III was born November 7, 1945, in Yakima, Washington, to John M. Warren and Jean Lee Duperon (formerly Reardon). Surrounded by his family, John departed on February 13, 2011, in Olympia, Washington. He is survived by his loving wife, Maria Perez Warren and their two children, Sean M. Warren and Chad E. Warren; two daughter in-laws, Angela (wife of Sean) and Elizabeth (wife of Chad), and six grandchildren: Ashanti (15), Amman (12), Ava (9), Angel (6), Lilly (3) and Henry (1); sister, Nancy Lee Paris and husband, Fuertel N. Paris, and niece Dena; brother, Richard E. Reardon and wife Christy A. Reardon, and their children: Angela, Michael, Christopher, Julia and Sara; mother, Jean Lee Duperon; mother-in-law, Teresa Torkanowsky, and brother-in-law, David Torkanowsky. He was preceded in death by relatives: John M. Warren II (father), Herbert E. Reardon (step-father), and Ron D. Reardon (brother). John had a great passion for boating with friends and family, spending his last 11 years living on Budd Bay Inlet with his wife, Maria. Together, they shared many adventures on the Puget Sound and Canadian waters. Making the journey to the New Orleans Jazz Festival, with family and friends, also became a yearly tradition. An outstanding steward of his profession, John cared deeply for others in need. As a substance abuse counselor in Thurston County, Washington, for 20 years, John passionately served others, helping many overcome addiction and find healing in their lives and relationships. John and Maria raised their family in Elma, Washington, where they lived from 1977 to 1999. They were married on October 21, 1967, in New Orleans, Louisiana. It was here, and in his previous homes in Yakima (birth-1961) and West Seattle (1961-1963), where John spent his youthful years. Those who knew John well might describe him as one whose personality struck a balance between precision and exactness, and a touch of “wild” spontaneity and humor. He was not simple, but a deeply thoughtful and reflective man, a marvel to those who spent much time with him, and truly a gift to the many whose lives he touched. Perhaps the greatest gift he left is the witness of deep companionship he shared with his wife, Maria. Never, has the writer of this tribute seen two people who loved each other so deeply and sincerely.
