Obituary of Clarence P. Ware

Clarence Patrick Ware Clarence passed away at Providence St. Peter Hospital on November 14, 2009. He was born in Dryad, WA, December 7, 1924. He attended Olympia High School and joined the Marine Corps in 1943. He served on the battleship U.S.S. Tennessee and was injured during the battle of Okinawa in 1945; he spent the next year recovering from severe burns. He was honorably discharged from the Marine Corps and received a Purple Heart. Upon returning home, he started working for the State Department of Printing in 1947, until he retired. Some of the things Clarence enjoyed were hunting, bowling, golfing, traveling, spending time with his poker buddies, watching sports, living on Long Lake for 36 years and Laurel Oaks for the past 14 years, and being with his family. He was a long time member of the VFW, Elks, and Eagles. Clarence was preceded in death by his son Bobby (Robert) Ware, parents Cecil and Amanda Ware, sister Violet Frank, and brother Harold Ware. He will be dearly missed by his beloved wife of 62 years, Verna, daughter Patti Hurn, son Scott Ware, brother Carlun Ware and family, grandchildren (Hans and Carrie Salnave (Hurn), Chris Hurn, Ryan Ware, Dylan and Dakota Ware), and great-granddaughters (Kyla and Kara Hurn).
