Dr. Don,
I lost my mother just recently. What I learned is that when its their time you can never be prepared. I wasn't acquainted with your father but what I know about him...he was proud of his son. Sorry for your loss. Wishing you peace, Garrett

Don, Chris and Family:
The loss of a parent is never easy since they have always been a part of our life -- our condolences to each of you in your loss of your dad and grandpa. Walt was blessed with and lived a full and active life and did the best he could do with the limitations he had. He is now again able to be the active person he most enjoyed being in his earthly life. My memories of your dad and mom go back my whole life. Walt will be missed but we are joyful for him. Love, Cork and Carleen

I will always remember Uncle Walt with a special love. I will never forget when I was five and there were no little girls to play with -- only all those boy cousins-- that he said he would be my "girlfriend." I reminded him of this from time to time, and we always got a kick out of it. I will also remember his visit to see us in Arizona and what a whopping good time he had playing video poker. Then I took him to local a Kiwanis meeting, and he was in his element When I went to see him in Wenatchee, he took me on a tour of everything, and I mean everything in Wenatchee. It was a blast, and I learned a lot about the apple industry. Indestructible, delightful Uncle Walt will be missed, by me and by everyone who knew him.

I loved so much about your dad, Don. Thanks for the comprehensive history that gave greater depths of appreciation for who Walt was, and what he shared with so many. I know all of you will miss him. He certainly enlightened all of us, by example.
Savor the wondrous memories.

Walt and Pinky were like my second parents. They put up with so much with Ric and me, but I think they knew what we were doing all the time. I have really missed all of them for so many years. Our thoughts and prayers are with you. Take care good friends.

If everyone in this world tried to work as hard as your dad, give of themselves to others as much as your dad, and live true to ones beliefs as much as your dad, this would be such an incredible world. We all should learn the power of taking the positive out of every situation like he seemed to do.

Don and Chris,
I am saddened to hear of the loss of your dad, Don. He sounds like quite a character - and lived a life full of honor, integrity and love. I would have loved meeting him - he sounds so much like my grandma! My thoughts and prayers are with you all.

I hadn't seen your dad in several years, but had thought of him more often than you might think....couldn't go by the house on the corner of Red Apple Road without thinking of him and of Pinky. Wonderful people! I have pleasant thoughts of him running local races when he was in his late 60s. He always had a smile and a positive thought, a good word to say, and was ready for the next challenge. My condolences to my old friends Don and Chris!

So sorry to hear about the loss of your father. He sounds like quite a remarkably enterprising, active, intelligent and fun-loving man. The apple (or peach/pear?) didn't fall far from the tree. My thoughts are with you and your family.

Don and Family, My sincere sympathies on the passing of Walt. I wish I had known that he was living here in Olympia. The last time I saw him was when he was an honorary pallbearer for my Dad. They were such good friends and hunting buddies. I think he was the last survivor of some of the elk hunting trips with Larry Erickson, Lyle Beerbower, Dad and Walt. I was just looking at some of those pictures about a month ago. My prayers are with your family.
