Obituary of Willard Leon Vincent

Visitation with the family will be from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm on Thursday, and 1 hour prior to the service on Friday Willard Leon Vincent Willard Leon Vincent died on 2 January 2008 in Olympia, Washington. Leon was a dedicated son, a caring husband and father, a patriot, and a deeply spiritual man. He is survived by his wife (Dawn), four children (Victoria Ann Vincent, Daniel Royce Vincent, Jeffrey Vance Vincent, and Richard Bernard Vincent), three step-children (Reynol E. Bowman, Raemarie Steele, and Myrle Guthrie), 2 sons-in-law, 4 daughters-in-law, 20 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren, and 2 sisters (Eva Jean Nelson and Afton Larson). He was preceded in death by his wife (Terry), two sons (James Leon Vincent and Michael Floyd Vincent), parents (Willard James and Fanny Elizabeth Clayson Vincent), a brother (Floyd Vincent), and a sister (Mildred Higham). Our family appreciates the loving care provided to Dad over the past 3 years by care-givers at Puget Sound Health Care. We also thank the many dear church and community friends who visited him and Dawn over those years and cared for their needs so selflessly. Leon was born 25 April 1920 and raised in Spanish Fork, Utah. In 1941, he moved to Los Angeles, CA, to work in a Lockheed assembly factory, met and married Theresa (Terry) (21 Feb 1942), and was then drafted into the Army. His family moved to Spanish Fork, and then to Alexandria, VA, while Leon served as a member of the Counter Intelligence Corps of the Army. After the war, the family moved back to Spanish Fork and then to Springville, Utah. Leon worked at the Geneva Works of US Steel in Orem, UT, retiring after 33 years of service. Theresa died in January of 1980. He met and married Dawn White Bowman about a year and a half later in the Seattle Temple. He was active in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He and Dawn were able to serve a mission for the church among the Cambodian immigrants in Los Angeles, CA. They also served as workers in the temples in Provo, UT, and Seattle, WA. Funeral services will be held at Wheeler Mortuary in Springville, UT, on Friday, 11 January 2008 at 11:00 am. Visitation with the family will be from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm on Thursday, and 1 hour prior to the service on Friday. Interment will be at Spanish Fork cemetery.
