Obituary of Barbara Vest

Barbara “Barbie” Betty Vest 1953 ~ 2012 Barbara "Barbie" Betty Vest, 58, passed away on March 23, 2012 in Lacey, Washington after prolonged illness at Panarama Convalescence Center. Born in Seattle, Washington to Charles and Betty Lelo, she knew sadness at an early age losing her parents to tragedy. She moved to Yelm, Washington at the age of 6 to grow up with her Aunt and Uncle. She married Jim Vest, her longtime loving husband, on October 7th 1973 at Fort Lewis, Washington. Later the marriage was solemnized in the Seattle Temple. As an army wife, she had the opportunity to travel alongside her husband to Europe. While in Holland, they celebrated the birth of their first son Jeffrey, and later moved back to Washington where they celebrated the birth of their second son, James "Jamie". The entire family was then stationed in Hawaii for four years. This was a great time of happiness for the Vest family. Jim retired in 1991 and the family moved back to Washington where they have enjoyed the remainder of their time together. Barbara joined the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints in 2001 and proudly served in a loving and caring capacity. She enjoyed attending her church meetings and being involved with her visiting teaching calling. One of her greatest joys in her life was attending the Temple with her family. Barbara is survived by her loving Husband, Jim Vest; her two Sons, James and Jeffrey; her Daughters-in-Law: Melissa and Arecili; her six Grandchildren: Kaleb, Kathryn, Celeste, Vanessa, Brian, and Alyssa; and her younger Brother Thomas. She found particular joy in her many grandchildren and the art of cooking in life.
