Obituary of Larry Dean Van Horn

Larry Dean Van Horn Larry Dean Van Horn, loving husbnad, father, grandfather, and brother passed away peacefully on April 28, 2009 at St. Peter Hospital from liver cancer due to Hepatitis C. He was born December 7, 1950, in Englewood, CA, to Betty and David Van Horn. His childhood years were mostly spent in Lancaster, CA, where he graduated from Antelope Valley High School in 1968. He loved to spend time on his grandfather's ranch in Fresno, CA. Larry also danced teen competitions with his sister, Sherry. After high school he joined the U. S. Army and proudly served for 22 years, including two tours of Vietnam and one tour of Europe. In 1972 he married Teresa Hall. They had two children. The marriage ended in divorce. In 1982 Larry married Suneva (Kris) Myklebust who had four children. They both enjoyed square dancing at Lac-A-Do Square Dance Hall where they were memebers of Grand Squares. However, Kris pass away May 16, 2000, from radiology complications while under treatment for esophageal cancer. After retiring from the military, Larry worked for Pony Express. Later he worked for Horizon Medical Transport and Intercity Transit Dial-A-Lift in Olympia, WA. Larry was a very kind, considerate, and caring person. He enjoyed meeting new people and transporting seniors and handicapped citizens through his work. He also loved to be outside working in the yard and cutting wood with his good friend, Al. Larry liked spending time with friends and family especially if he could cook. In 2001, he returned to square dancing at Lac-A-Do Square Dance Hall where he met Dana. He danced his way into her heart. They were married July 24, 2005. Though their time together has been short, they have been happy to have and love each other through it all. In addition to Dana, Larry is survived by four siblings; Rick Van Horn (Wendy), Sherry Usleaman (Lee), Chris Severson (Phil), Brian Van Horn (Brenda); his children, Loren Van Horn, Jennifer Lutey (Trent), Heather Edwards (LaShawn), Kristin Pescatore (Joseph), Jennifer Tramble (Titus), and Matt Everhart; 8 grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. A celebration of his life will be held on Saturday, May 16, 2009 at Lac-A-Do Square Dance Hall, 1721 46th Ave. NE, Olympia, WA, 98506 at 10:00 a.m. The family sends a very special “thank you” to Providence Hospice for their wonderful care and concern for Larry and our family.
