Obituary of MaryAnna Cutlip Thompson

MaryAnna Cutlip Thompson, of Olympia, Washington, beloved mother, friend, and wife, passed away on March 26, 2010 at 68 years of age. MaryAnna attended Centralia High School and graduated with the class of 1960 from Olympia High School. MaryAnna was born November 3, 1941, in Pe Ell, Washington to William F. Cutlip and Lillian C. W. Cutlip, who preceded her on her journey, as did her brothers William F., Jerry K., and Calvin I.Mom was a vibrant and beautiful person. She was kind and generous and was extremely close to her children and family. She adored her garden, her backyard wildlife, garage sales, and the Olympia Farmer’s Market. No soul every left her doorstep hungry, or in her words: “If you leave here hungry, it’s your own damned fault.” She has left a huge empty space in our lives. Thankfully, her creativity, joyous giving nature, passion, and zest for life will live on in each and every one of us who knew and remember her. May we all remember her fondly and offer a blessing on her behalf. MaryAnna left behind her husband of 48 years, John A., and her daughter Kathleen A. Thompson (Kati) and husband Jeffrey Johnston; son Jeffrey C. Thompson and his partner Jenny, their daughter Mary Joanna and her children Maddison and Thomas; and daughter Lillian C. Thompson, her partner Leo Marquie and his daughter Tacha; as well as her sister Colleen Pease. Mom also always said: “If you’re going to bring me flowers, do it while I’m alive,” which we did.
