Obituary of John Albert Thompson

John Albert Thompson, of Olympia, Washington, beloved father, brother, and husband, passed away on May 23, 2010 at 82 years of age. He was born February 24, 1928 in Seattle, Washington to Ivy Winifred Wild and John Andrew Thompson, who preceded him on his journey, as did his sister, Janice and Ivy’s sister Eileen Hutchinson.Dad was a generous, hard working man, sometimes working three jobs at once to support his family. John was a lifelong engine mechanic and a career Navy man, repairing planes and teaching others to repair them in the Navy. After he retired he went on to repair motorcycles, marine engines, appliances, and running his own small engine repair shop. He was nuts about his dogs, especially Chang and Tootie, and loved to watch the backyard wildlife at his home. He was diagnosed with lung cancer a week after his wife passed on March 26 of this year. He was a strong man and went down swinging, fighting his illness to his last breath. John was preceded in death by his wife of 48years, MaryAnna M. Cutlip. He leaves behind his daughter, Kathleen A. Thompson (Kati) and husband Jeffrey Johnston; son Jeffrey A. Thompson and his partner Jenny Rosebraugh, their daughter Mary Joanna and her children Maddison and Thomas; and daughter Lillian C. Thompson, her partner Leo Marquie and his daughter Tacha; as well as his sister Carol, who lives in California.
