Mary Beth and Fred Peirce in Spring, Texas posted a condolence
Saturday, May 30, 2009
I am so sad tonight to learn of Fritz' passing. I was feeling that something had happened. We love you both, Verna. You were very special in our young lives so many years ago. Fritz and I went to choir practice at Pilgrim Lutheran in Houston together and what fun to laugh and visit with him. And of course, you were my dearest friend and role model. We needed you both, and your dear family. We send all our love tonight. Wish we could hug you, Verna. Heidi was so sweet to write. God keep you and strengthen you each day. Mary Beth

I really like the heart pillow that Grandpa Fritz gave me. I don't lay on it but I hold it in bed.

I had the privilege of meeting with Fritz and Verna for his memoir. Immediately I was moved by their love and affection for each other and deeply impressed with his life's story and his way of telling it. What a delightful man and an amazing couple. Fritz and Verna and I remained in contact over the years and I always looked forward to receiving their e-mails. I could "hear" Verna's gentle voice and Fritz' dry sense of humor through every word. I know he will be deeply missed by all who had the joy of his presence in their lives. Thank you. Rae Hight

Fritz & Verna were among the first people to welcome my son & I to Grace fellowship. His passing hit me harder than even I could have anticipated. He gave us what too few people are willing to: his time. And with Fritz, it was always 'quality.' You're the genuine article Fritz! Tell Jesus we say "Yo!"

Ingo and I treasure the years of friendship with both Fritz and Verna, meeting in their home for weekly Bible study, sharing in laughter and tears, good times and not so good. A coule of particular traits stand out to us. Fritz was steadfast, a solid rock with a gentle, quiet spirit. When he spoke, we knew it would be with the wisdom of the Word and experience. Fritz did not bow to popular culture, the fad of the moment. He knew where his treasure was! And now he has the true treasure that he will enjoy forevermore with His Lord! We will always miss Fritz and are thankful for our friendship and the wonderful memories we have, but we are happy for Fritz.

My dad's passing has had a strange effect on me. Every time I see an elderly gentleman my dad's age, on the streets or in a store, I want to run up and hug them. I'm so Thankful that he was my dad. My heart is full of wonderful memories that I hope to keep sharing with my mom for a long time. I love you Mom and Dad.

Fritz would stay with our family in Aberdeen when he was selling insurance. He also was doing antique transactions and he and my dad had warm and friendly visits, they laughed alot. We always so looked forward to his visits. I would be excited all day when I knew he was coming to our house.
He will really be missed. I was so glad to have known him.
My parents, David and Vera Knapp are 79 and 80 years old. They live in Soap Lake Washington. I'm sure they would really enjoy a copy of Fritz's audiobiography. Would it be possible to get a copy? They are not mobile but still love to read and talk about old friends. Fritz was a special friend to them.
My contact info is:

I never had a real relationship with my father (Ken Thies). When my mom, Ruth, my brother Bob and my son JT and I flew to Washington in the 90's to visit saw Uncle Fritz and Aunt Verna I finally knew what it would have been like to have a father. With our rented Van, we pulled in the driveway and there he was standing and waiting with the biggest smile you can imagine. Bob and I said "oh my gosh, it's dad" (he resembles Ken quite a bit). We got out of the car and had an INSTANT beautiful relationship with all the love and tears you can imagine.....This realtionship continued with phone calls and emails until his passing.....Bob got to fly out there last summer for one last visit.....God Bless you Uncle Fritz for showing me the meaning of forgiveness and love. Aunt Verna, Heidi and the rest, I will be out to visit you soon.
God Bless you all.......Maureen Thies

Fritz, the world is a much better place, for your having passed this way. What finer heritage could any man wish for than to have loved and been loved in return. A grateful nation is proud of you and will never forget. Take your rest. Semper Fidelis!
