She lived in East Bremerton for 35 years and moved to Olympia in 2004 to be close to family. While serving as a WAC at Madigan, she went out with some friends where she met First Sergeant Harry Suski when he asked her to dance. This led to a first date where Emily got car sick on the ride home but still got a goodnight kiss. She was surprised when the handsome soldier called her the next day. They were married in 1948 in the chapel of the Old Madigan Hospital. After 45 years of loving marriage he preceded her in death in 1992. She is survived by a son, Steven Suski, of Olympia; one sister, Anna Devan, of Olympia; one brother, John Devan, of Retsil, Port Orchard. Preceding her in death was a brother Stephen Devan, of Cicero, Illinois. Emily was a devoted wife and mother who enjoyed spending time with her family camping and fishing. She was also a Cub Scout Den Mother. Emily loved to sew and knit and enjoyed making knit hats for newborns at the Community Center in East Bremerton. Emily suffered from rheumatoid arthritis and although limited to crutches and a wheelchair, she still kept in great spirits and enjoyed life. She was a beautiful, outgoing woman who will be missed by all that knew her.
