I was just looking up Steve and am saddened to find that he had passed. I came to know Steve when I was a customer service representative worked with Legacy Marketing Group. He had a reputation of being hard to work with, but somehow I managed to deal with it and find ways to accomidate his business needs. As a CSR we worked with our producers mostly over the phone and he had a very deep, authoritative voice and people would be intimiated by it. In reality, he was a very kind man, cared for his clients and wanted to provide the best customer service for them. He provided a regular stream of business and I came to know him and speak with him regularly if not excusively. I met him a couple of times when he came down for annual meetings and he was a very impressive man. He invited me to dinner one time with his attorney at Mortons in SF and introduced me to the Polish Martini...something I'll never forget. It looked like radiator fluid, but it's champagne and madori, very yummy! When I decided to move to Everett, WA he was happy to be a reference for me. I always thought we would get in touch again. I'll never forget that he told me that I had Moxie and should open my own business. Good by Stephen, I'll never forget your voice It was one of a kind.

Steve was a good buddy and a great guy. We had some good times when we roomed together in the early 70's, and we had some great discussions over the years. I last spoke with him last year. He always said he'd like to get up here to Wasilla, I was hoping to see him. I'll miss him.

Steve was a good friend. I had talked with him just a few weeks before he left us. I will miss him-especially I will miss being called "The Doris Day of Winfield!" Steve and my husband, Dick, had MANY good times together during the "40 some" years we were friends. You are in my prayers, Steve.

Uncle Steven was a funny, complex, and memorable man. He was passionately fond of good food, being around his family, and telling stories. He had a wonderful rapport with our dogs too. Steven was blessed with an amazing family who were by his side and held his hand right up to his final breath. There has never been, and will never be another man like Steven. Mike and I are sad that he will not be here with us at all of the future family events, but very grateful that Uncle Steven is at peace.

I've known Steve for over 40 yrs. He was a great friend of my parents, Dick and Doe Brooker. We had such fun times--at my parents home for dinner,(Mom always made spaghetti-with 7 kids and Steve, it's the only thing we wouldn't run out of!!!),Steve dancing at the Viking with my 5' tall Grandmother, dancing with me,( he was a great dancer), pics and stories from the fishing trips he took with Dad. Too many memories to put here. He will be missed and in our prayers always. Bye, Steve! Say hi to Dad for me!!

I will miss Steve. I will never forget his visits to my home in Puerto Vallarta, Mexico. Steve broke the record for eating lobster dinners, and many of our friends enjoyed his kindness and sense of humor. It is to Gods profit he is in heaven today. God will send His comforter to those who miss and love him.

For the Sumpsky’s, related family and friends: All were family to Steve. According to the gospel, “to be absent from the body is to be present with the Lord Jesus.” I pray you will each know the peace of the Holy Spirit of Our Lord Jesus at this time. His is a peace that surpasses all understanding. Let no moment of grief be purposely overcome but freely honor the depth of Steve’s love for you, commensurately, with your tears. Steve knew God, whose name is Love, his whole life. Steve gave us his gift. Big Steve loved as big and exuberantly as he lived life and as he appeared in stature. It has been our honor to know you and be with you in your families settings Steve. Now you are truly home.
Soon, we will join you in your gladness again.

To the Sumskys. Big Steve is not there... but he will closier to you then ever. We really like him. We did not have the chance to meet him often. But every time I saw him, he was the big guy with so much kindless and love. I will never forget the scene at Sue & Don weeding, he was walking with your very little grand-ma. He was so nice with her. On vous aime tous les Sumsky, vous êtes une belle "grande" famille. Stephen, repose en paix! Au revoir.

When I think of you Steve, I think of kindness and generousity. I'll never forget your patience when you taught me how to play poker when I was in my teens. And I always knew when you were in town when I'd see bags of Portillo's hotdogs for everyone at work. You made a difference to many people's lifes. Thank you.

We are thinking of Steve here in Minnesota as we will every year at this time, for Steve passed away on his Uncle Ted's birthday. Uncle Ted always thought fondly of Stephen and was concerned for him. It is good to know that the two of them are together again.
