Obituary of Eugene Stone

Eugene "Gene" Stone Eugene "Gene" Stone died Wednesday July 31, 2008 at Capitol Medical Center following a sudden illness. Gene was born in 1932 in Vineyard, Utah. He attended Provo High School where he met his future wife, Lois Isabel Berkhimer. They were married in 1952 at the Presbyterian Church in Evanston, Wyoming, and lived in Salt Lake City, UT, Lynnwood, WA, and Cedar City, UT. They have been Olympia residents for over 14 years. Gene joined the Navy in 1950 and served until 1954, during the Korean Conflict. He went on to work over 50 years in the temperature control industry. Gene loved wooden boats and spent many hours restoring them. He was also a strong Democrat and would campaign for his party. Gene is survived by his wife Lois of Olympia, children Katie and Chuck Burkart, Gig Harbor, WA, Laura and Sherman Schorzman, Skillman, NJ, Janet and Randy Berlin, Sitka, AK, Dale and Pam Stone, Covington, WA, and Nicole and Matt Trott, Casper, WY. He has ten grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his sister and brother-in-law Gloria and Dean Kirkham Lehi, UT and Aunt Norma Crawford, Salt Lake City, UT. Gene was preceded in death by his mother Anna Rebecca Christianson, step-father Royal Wright and father Harry Melvin Stone.
