Obituary of Roger Stenberg

Roger Stenberg Roger Stenberg, a 46-year resident of Olympia, Washington died after a brief illness on June 5, 2012 at the age of 86. He was born in Hamburg, North Dakota to Frank and Bertha Stenberg. He attended school in New Rockford, North Dakota. After high school, he joined the Air Force and served in Europe in WWII as an Aerial Gunner. After returning home from the war, he attended Pacific Lutheran University and received his teaching degree. He also attended Lutheran seminary and was an ordained Lutheran minister. Roger taught grades 5, 6, 7 and 8 in Shelton, Vashon Island, and Olympia schools for 30 years. He was preceded in death by his wife, Gerry; brothers, LeRoy, Willard and Stanley; and sisters, Elva, Eva, Gladys and Iris. He is survived by his daughters, Ingrid (Tino) Fortunato, Linda, Kristen (Jim) Carr; six grandchildren and five great grandchildren. A memorial service will be held at Lutheran Church of the Good Shepherd, 1601 North Street S.E., Olympia, Washington on Tuesday, June 12 at 11:00 a.m. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to Lutheran World Relief in care of Lutheran Church of the Good Shepherd at the above address.
