Obituary of Hazel Stanger

Hazel Irene Stanger OLYMPIA, Wash. — Hazel Irene (Wood) Stanger, 86, of Olympia, Wash., a 60-year resident of Great Falls, died of natural causes Wednesday in Olympia. Hazel was born Aug. 2, 1923, in Great Falls, Mont., to Elton and Bertha (Baker) Wood. In July 1945, she married Dick Stanger; he preceded her in death. Hazel resided in Great Falls from 1945 until 2004. She managed the Great Falls Central Catholic High School cafeteria for many years. She was also a member of the Eagles and Elks auxiliaries. She was happiest in the kitchen, whipping up one of her delicious meals. She was a loving and caring mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. Surviving Hazel are her son, Ronald Stanger of Olympia, WA; daughter Chauna Burk of Kokomo, Ind. daughter Joyce Stanger, of Great Falls; five grandchildren, Dreama Propes of Huntsville AL, Jon Burk and Tammy Dittfield of Kokomo, IN, Brent Stanger and Sabrina Scott of Great Falls and eight great-grandchildren. In addition to her husband, Dick, she was preceded in death by a son, Randy. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to the American Breast Cancer Society.
