Obituary of Lyle E. Smith

Lyle E. "Smitty" Smith Lyle E. Smith, 68 passed away on July 3, 2008 at home after a long battle with cancer and Parkinson's. Lyle was born on October 20, 1939 to Jerald and Doris Smith of Kallispell, Montana. He is survived by his wife Nancy of Olympia; daughters Cynthia Smith and Melany Nelson both of Vancouver, Washington; step-son Erik Foraker of Olympia; and father in law Edward Zimmerman of Olympia; brother Jerald (Pat) Smith of Spokane, Washington; sisters Deloris (Bud) Gardner and Sandra (Donald) Fleetwood all of Bonners Ferry, Idaho; five grandchildren, Chad Howes, Erica Nelson, Michael Appleyard, Stephanie Foraker and Cherly Knapp; and numerous aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews. After Serving in the U.S. Navy for 4 years, Lyle worked as an electrician belonging to the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers Local 112 Kennewick, Washington and 25 yrs with Bechtel Corporation in San Francisco, CA. His career in the electrical construction field spanned the United States, coast to coast and six foreign countries. He served as Superintendent rising to Project Manager on domestic and overseas projects. From a very early age, Lyle had a passion for airplanes and later on become a private pilot.
