Obituary of Richard Joseph Smith

No visitation Smitty passed away quietly on December 22, 2006. He was born on September 8, 1936 in Olympia, Washington to Paul and Claudine Smith. He was a lifetime Olympia resident and a graduate of Olympia High School. He joined the United States Marine Corps and attained Corporal status. Smitty worked in the Asphalt Paving industry later retiring as an Operating Engineer. He enjoyed gardening, fishing, and friends. He was a member of the Elks and Moose Lodges. Smitty is survived by his wife, Patty; his sons, Dean, Doug, Dirk, and Pete; his daughters, Robin, Marlee, and Tracey; as well as his thirteen grandchildren, whom he loved dearly. A celebration of life service is planned for January 6 2007 at 11:00 a.m. at the Worthington Conference Center, St. Martin’s University, 5300 Pacific Ave. SE., Lacey, Washington. We ask in lieu of flowers to make a donation in Smitty’s name to the American Diabetes Association, P.O. Box 1132, Fairfax, Virginia 22038-1132.
