Don, my thoughts are with you and your family as you continue to deal with life. May the thoughts the one day you will be together again give you peace until you see her again. WE LOVE YOU !!!

Sweet memories came pouring back as I read the newspaper article about Nina. In '73-'74 I worked as a 'temporary' at the State Dept of Liscensing. I worked in several offices before landing in DWI working the files with Nina! She was a delight! We used to laugh about the trivial differences others in the dept had! She was always helpful, upbeat and HARDWORKING! She worked circles around many others who had less difficult jobs and higher pay. I found out I was pregnant while working there...and used to go to break and buy a small cup of pickles and a dixie cup for a snack! Nina was encouraging and advised me as I went through stages of my pregnancy! She was a sweetheart and I have such fond memories of my time working with her...I know she will be missed by many.
May God bless you all as you continue without her, but with sweet memories of your time with her.

You both won our affections with a bag of Tootsi Rolls for each of us immediately becoming the nicest American couple I have ever had the pleasure to meet. Although our stay was brief with you, I will always remember Nina and Don as our American grandparents. Nina a beautiful woman with a big heart, and Don ever the joker. I just wish we could have got you "Down Under," to return the hospitality you showed us.
All our love. The Hames kids.

We met Nina and Don on the edge of Lake Mead whilst holidaying in 1993 and were fortunate enough to be able to visit again in 1997, staying with them at their home in Tenino.
Our memories of Nina are vivid, the warmth and affection with which she immediately embraced our children and ourselves, and the wonderfully loving bond she shared with Don, are memories we will treasure forever.
The Idaho potatoes and "schmores" we were introduced to around the camp fire by the river, riding on the four wheelers, the BBQs and just simply sitting out the back in the sunshine with a beer or a wine and talking - the simplest of pleasures - and for us the very best of people!
We will miss you from a distance Nina but you will forever be remembered, and Don we know how close and loving a family you have, as well as all these wonderful friends whose messages fill these pages .... you will both be forever in our hearts and minds,
With all our love, Your Australian Family

I am Nina's middle daughter and will miss her immensely. I want everyone to know we appreciate all the kindness and sweet memories you are sending our way. I also want to everyone to remember while our loved ones are alive, spend as much time as you can with them building memories and showing your love. Those times might be shorter than you know and when they move on to God, we cannot build any more. We all have busy lives but oh how I regret not taking the little bit of extra time to stop by for a quick visit. I love you Mom - I love you Dad. Again, thank you all so very much.

Thankyou all for the loving words. Mom was a special person, and loved dad more then anyone would know. I heard a song by Brooks and Dunn, and the verse says a lot. "I raise my hands, bow my head, finding more and more truth in the words written in red, They tell me there's more to life then just what you can see, oh I believe,. I can't quote the book, the chapter or the verse, you can't tell me it all ends in a slow ride in a hearse, you know I'm more and more convinced the longer that we live, this can't be, no this can't be all there is."
If you hear the song "believe" listen to all the words, these are just some. again, thankyou all for all the nice words, I know mom is here listening to everyone.

Nina will never be far from you. I hope these words will comfort you. She was a special lady.
Tho I have had to leave you,
Whom I love,
To go along the silent way;
Grieve not, nor speak of me
With tears; but laugh and talk
Of me, as if I were beside you.
For who knows but I shall
Be, oft times!
I'd come, I'd come could I but
Find the way.
And would not tears and grief
Be barriers?
So, when you hear a word I used
to say, or touch a thing I loved,
let not your thoughts of me be sad,
for I am loving you just as I
Always have.

Nina was a caring, loving person. She welcomed me into her life as a Grand Aerie emplouee working with her husband. I felt like her family when welcomed into her home in l989. Don and Nina should be known as true "Eagle Members" for their devoted teamwork in the organization. Nina was always in the background supporting Don in every way. Wish I could have spent more time with her. She was a real lady to be loved and missed by all who crossed her path. May she rest in peace and Don find comfort in all he did to care for her. She was his first concern, turning down appointments that would have given him recognition but he knew who came first in his life. My sincere sympathy to Don and his family.

Wanted to say how much we will miss Aunt Nina. She was and always will be remembered as a very compassionate woman, who always smiled with joy at her grandkids, and her neices and nephews playing volleyball and hitting things we weren't supposed to. ha ha. But in all seriousness, I will miss seeing her, even though it wasn't but once a year or so we'd see each other, it just won't be the same without her. God Bless Your Family. I know words right now don't mean very much, your heart is so heavy your soul feels crushed. Soaring with angels, trying out new wings, smiling and happy with them she sings. Her life that is gone lives on thru the love that was left here for you, when her soul soared above. May you know the peace and comfort this heartfelt thought imparts. The ones we love are never gone, they live within our hearts. Our Condolences to you and your family.
