Obituary of Ralph W. Skinner

Ralph William Skinner Ralph William Skinner, son of John J. Skinner and Christine (Knudson) Skinner was born September 4, 1914 in Seattle, the fourth of ten children. He passed away on November 17, 2008 at Providence St. Peter Hospital. Ralph was raised by William and Fern Skinner and lived in Port Gamble and Port Angeles, graduating from Port Angeles High School. Ralph served honorably in World War II in the Army Air Corps stationed outside of London. While stationed in Tucson, Arizona he married Dolores Lyons of Indiana. In 1945 after discharge from the service they moved to Olympia where they raised two daughters, Beverly and Christine. They were later divorced. Ralph retired as a shareholder from Lacey Plywood. He enjoyed fishing and hunting, golfing, dancing, vacationing in Hawaii and walking at the Nisqually Wildlife Refuge. Ralph was a member of the Elks Club and will be remembered for his quick wit and humor. Ralph is survived by his daughters, Beverly Skinner of Olympia and Christine (Tony) Backes of Seattle and grandchildren Nathan Backes and Jessica Simon. A graveside service will be held at 10:00 am, Saturday, November 22, 2008 at Woodlawn Cemetery followed by a reception at 11:00 a.m. at Woodlawn Funeral Home.
