Obituary of Ruth Ann Silvernale

None RuthAnn Silvernale Ruthann Silvernale (nee Loew), was called home by her Heavenly Father on her 89th birthday, July 7, 2011. She was at home surrounded by her loving family. Ruth was born July 7, 1922 in Kenosha, Wisconsin,her parents William and Hedwig Loew. She graduated from Wheaton College in Wheaton, Illinois with a BA in German. She obtained her Masters in German at the University of Minnesota, which is where she met her husband John. Following completion of her Masters Degree, she worked for the federal government in Washington D.C. and in Frankfurt, Germany as an interpreter. She married John Silvernale in Hilchenbach, Germany in April 1952, while John was stationed with the 28th Division of the US Army in Germany. Ruth returned to the US in 1953 and devoted many years to raising her family. In 1964, Ruth began work at the Michigan Education Association and worked there as an executive secretary until her retirement in 1984. Ruth and John moved to Olympia, Washington in 1986. She and John enjoyed traveling in the Northwest, especially with their grandchildren. She was a member of the United Churches and was active in the Olympia Weavers Guild and the Boston Harbor Garden Club. Ruth will be greatly missed by her husband of 59 years, John L. Silvernale, and her four children, Margaret Casey (Dan) of Haslett, Michigan, Leslie Loew-Blosser (Will) of Minneapolis, Minnesota, Jenifer Silvernale (Mark Rensel) of Mackinac Island, Michigan and Olympia, Washington, and John W. Silvernale (Kate) of Snohomish, Washington. She will also be missed by her grandchildren, Branum, Jack, Rosie, Christopher and Nettie, and great-grandchildren Benny and Isla. She was preceded in death by her parents William and Hedwig Loew, and one brother William Loew, formerly of Anchorage, Alaska The family suggests donations to the Olympia Salvation Army in lieu of flowers.
