Obituary of Lila Vee Weaver Shumate

Lila Vee Weaver Shumate Lila was born December 6, 1927 in Cimarron, Kansas to Lawrence and Violet Weaver and passed on to a better place on August 22, 2008 at Evergreen Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. She had a massive stroke ten days earlier after having a previous stroke 12 years ago. On July 24, 2008 Lila and her husband William “Bill” celebrated their 60th Wedding Anniversary. She is also survived by her son Larry L. Shumate; daughter Linda (Larry Rounsley) and grandson Tim C. Flumerfelt; son Loren W. Shumate and granddaughters Farren and Tierney; daughter Leisa (Dave Hill) and grandsons Nathanael and Josiah; and her sister, Loa Ann Bernhardt. Lila moved with her family to Trinidad, Colorado where she attended elementary school. In 1941 she moved to Olympia. Bill always said how lucky he was that Lila, born in Kansas moved all the way to Olympia where they met in the final two months of high school. They graduated together in the class of 1945 (Olympia High School). Bill really knew God had a big hand in everything as they were virtually inseparable since they met, “Lila will forever be my Sunshine.” A private graveside family service will be held at Masonic Cemetery, arrangements by Funeral Alternatives of Washington.
