Obituary of Jack Settle

Jack Wayne Settle Jack Wayne Settle, 86, of Elma passed away November 11, 2009 in Olympia, WA. He was born July 28, 1923 in Los Angeles, California to Frank and Myrtle Settle. He attended school in Aberdeen, after which Jack served his country in WWII as a member of The Army Air Corps from 1942 – 1945. He served as a Radio Operator on the B26 Marauder in France 9th Air Force. On October 21, 1945 Jack married Virginia Headland and from 1949 – 1975 they raised a family and Jack worked at Axford Prairie, a small community outside of Hoquiam. After living there, the family moved up to the Wynoochee Valley for 10 Years. Jack worked for ITT Rayonier as section foreman on the railroad. Following retirement, he moved to Shelton and volunteered for Mason County Transit for over 10 years. When not hard at work, Jack loved the outdoors and spent many hours peeling Cascara Bark and picking wild Blackberries in season. Surviving Jack are his son, John Settle; daughters Myrna (Jess) Flores, Brenda (Jody) Ray; sisters, Jean (Frank) Parsons and June Settle; 8 grandchildren; and 12 great grandchildren.
