Obituary of Robert Schuman

A viewing will be held on Thursday, May 10, 2007 at 6:00 p.m. at the Masonic Center, 521 North St. S.E., Tumwater Robert “Bert” Edward Schuman Robert, who was affectionately known at “Bert”, passed away at his home in Tumwater on April 30, 2007. Bert was an avid outdoorsman who loved bird watching, gardening, and hiking. He enjoyed long camping trips to the ocean, the North Cascades, and the Capitol Forest. Bert especially loved his frequent walks at his favorite parks including the Tumwater Falls Park. Bert worked many trades including in the United States Army, owner of a cafe’, and retired from his warehouse position at Fort Lewis. He has traveled to many countries and almost all 50 states on his motorcycle. Bert’s favorite pastimes were enjoying many different foods, reading Reader’s Digests, and watching movies. He owned a very extensive collection of Charlie Chaplin and John Wayne movies. Bert was born on September 24, 1929 to Edward William and Hannah Regina (Neff) Schuman in Fargo, North Dakota. He had a very large family, including 3 sisters, Rosemary, Verna, and Betty. He is also survived by his first wife, Myrna Schuman and their 5 children, the late Vernadine Schuman, Konrad Schuman, Kurt Schuman, Kieth Schuman and Karen Mussman; his second wife, and caregiver, Cecilia Schuman and their 2 daughters, Cecille Schuman and Laura Parker; also 11 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren. Bert’s wonderful stories and very witty personality will be greatly missed. We all thank you very much for sharing your life and all your wisdom with us. We love you very much. A viewing will be held on Thursday, May 10, 2007 at 6:00 p.m. at the Masonic Center, 521 North St. S.E., Tumwater. The funeral service with military honors will follow at 7:00 p.m.
