Robert Schley II

Obituary of Robert L. Schley II

Robert L. Schley II 8/19/1963 – 6/29/2012 Robert passed away unexpectedly at his home in Boston Harbor, Olympia, Washington on June 29, 2012. He was born August 19, 1963 to Robert and Carolle Schley in Kansas City, Missouri. He attended school in Spokane, Washington, and graduated from Olympia High School in 1981. He enlisted in the U.S. Navy at 17. During his naval career, he was able to visit 26 countries, his favorite of which was the Philippines. In the Navy, he served as a signalman and as an MP. He was very proud of his time spent serving our country. Robert finally married the love of his life and high school sweetheart, Tami, after a 21-year separation. The two were married in September 2003. He loved to collect baseball cards, and watch NASCAR and old movies. He also played a mean game of poker. After testing several careers, he discovered his passion for cooking and became a chef. His cheesecake and bread pudding will be sorely missed. His most recent employer was Bridgeport Place Assisted Living in University Place, Washington. He loved working there and enjoyed feeding both staff and residents. His nickname there was "Boog," from the Movie Open Season, and he was famous for his bear hugs. He is survived by his wife, Tami (Mayo) Schley; stepsons, Kenny (Stephanie) Bausch and Zachary Bausch and granddaughter, Izabelle; his mother, Carolle; his brother, Chris (Kim) Schley; his sisters, Carolle (Tom) Davis and Kim (Don) Smith; numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews; and a large, loving extended family. He was preceded in death by his father, Robert M. Schley. The family suggests memorial donations be made to the Thurston County Animal Services or to adopt a pet.
