Obituary of Gottfried Joseph Schilter

Gottfried (Fred) J. Schilter Fred J. Schilter, life long resident of Nisqually, went home to be with the Lord on January 11, 2011 following a nine month battle with cancer. He was 70 years old. He is survived by his loving & devoted wife Patty(Deck), with whom he would have celebrated 50 years together in June. He will be missed dearly by his children Joanne Huff(Bill) Enumclaw,Washington, JohnSchilter (Karen) Napa California, Jenny Inderbitzin(John) Graham, Washington Jeff Schilter (Stephanie) Nisqually,Washington Julie Stump(Mike) Edgewood and Twenty three grandchildren and one great grandchild. Fred is survived by his sisters: Katherine Omlin(Karl) Sacramento,California Pauline Schaefer (Fred) Olympia,Washington Louise Schilter-Harms(Jim) Seattle,Washington and brother Anton Schilter (Sunny) Adna,Washington as well as numerous cousins, nieces & nephews. Fred was born April 16, 1940 on the family farm where he lived his entire life. As a youth Fred attended St. Michael School and was a graduate of St. Martin’s High School. Fred and Patty took over the farm after the passing of his father in 1961. He attended Sacred Heart Catholic Church where he was a lifelong member. He served a brief term in the Army, was a member of the Swiss Men’s Society, Swiss Sportsman’s Club, Holy Men’s Society, a volunteer firefighter and several farm organizations.
